Victim Support's Scottish dinner was a great night out for all
In traditional Scottish style, dinner guests feasted on a supper of haggis, neaps (swede) and tatties (potatoes), at Devizes police headquarters recreational club. The Packhorse Band provided the rest of the evening’s entertainment with a mix of Scottish country dance music.
Over £600 was raised through ticket sales and a raffle - prizes included vouchers for Isola Bella Italian restaurant and Gracie’s Tearooms in Devizes. During the evening, two guests spontaneously auctioned off a week’s holiday in their south of France apartment – this resulted in a winning bid of £1,000!
Organiser Judy Rose, Victim Support’s administrative assistant in Wiltshire, said: “Thanks to everyone who helped to make this event such a success. A lot of fun was had with addresses made to the haggis and the immortal memory of Robert Burns, followed by a toast and reply to the lasses! The holiday auction boosted the takings enormously - money raised through events like this one makes such a big difference to the help that Victim Support can give victims and witnesses of crime. We are really grateful for people’s generosity.”
