Users should be aware that Victim Support Kent receives some personal information from the police to enable it to provide services to victims and witnesses. If you report certain crimes to the police, the police will pass your details on to Victim Support, unless you ask them not to. This happens in cases of burglary, theft (other than of or from cars), robbery, assault (other than domestic violence), harassment (including racial harassment), criminal damage against private property, and arson. If you do not want your name passed on as a victim of crime, tell the police officer dealing with your case.
If you have reported a sexual crime or domestic violence or if you have been bereaved by homicide, the police will ask you specifically if you wish to be referred to Victim Support. You will only be referred on with your consent.
