Children in court - Part 1

This project draws on information from the Witness Service in four Crown Court centres. Because of the anonymity promised to all participants, we are unable to identify these courts or to thank by name all those who assisted us in the study. We are very grateful to the children and families who completed questionnaires and agreed to be interviewed, to the Witness Service volunteers and their coordinators who filled in questionnaires and told us about their experiences and to the judges and other members of the criminal justice system who provided comments about the project.

We were greatly assisted in carrying out this research by Anne Viney, Assistant Director and Sarah Brimelow, Witness Service Officer of the Victim Support National Office.

Thanks are also due to educational psychologist Hazel Woolfson who assisted in the evaluation of the Witness Service training.
